Native New Yorker Andrew Schulz likes laughs. Real, hard laughs. And this fall, the comedian – known for his hilariously edgy, street-smart, and unapologetic comedy – will deliver his due. Handpicked by MTV as their new tastemaker, Schulz will take over the silver screen with three new shows on their networks. He’ll be on the road for his accompanying stand-up tour. And as he was recently named “one of the top five up-and-coming artists on Twitter”, he will be continuing to expand his influence online.
The first of the three new shows for MTV and MTV2 is “The Hook Up,” which will premiere on October 14. An updated take on “The Dating Game,” Schulz hosts the show, guiding contestants through the confusing social media landscape that is the current dating scene. Next up, later this fall the show “Guy Court” will premiere, in which he and his colleagues from the hit show “Guy Code” will prosecute (or defend) a guy by the official Laws of Manhood. On the subject of “Guy Code,” Schulz will continue to write and appear on the 4th season of the record-breaking MTV2 series as well as the second season of “Girl Code.”
“Jobs that Don’t Suck” is the final MTV installment for Schulz’s current slate. Premiering early 2014, the series is the near-antithesis of Mike Rowe’s “Dirty Jobs,” showcasing workers who reveal how they found one of the greatest jobs in the world. Schulz will interview and participate in such professions that don’t suck as the “professional pick up artist,” “snake milker,” “super car test driver,” “airplane re-possessor” and more.
In 2012, Schulz hosted the acclaimed European Movie Awards for MTV and has made appearances on MTV2′s “Hip Hop Squares”, “Epic Fail,” the VMAs and MTV Movie Awards, “Wild N Out,” VH1′s “Big Morning Buzz,” MTV2′s “The Week in Jams,” “Hip Hop Squares,” and “Charlamagne and Friends.” As an actor, Schulz recently filmed the FX pilot BRONX WARRANTS, and indie film VICTOR opposite Jeremy Sisto and Tony Hale.
With his unique brand of humor, Andrew has established himself as a fixture in New York’s comedy circuit. He regularly performs at The Comedy Cellar, Stand Up NY, The Comic Strip Live, Eastville Comedy Club, and Caroline’s.
Schulz currently resides in New York.
